Approach

The practice is committed to an exceptional standard of personal service. We take a pragmatic approach to each design challenge and avoid standard stylistic solutions. Depending on context, some work may be of traditional construction, incorporating ornate features, whilst other projects may call for a distinctly contemporary appearance with flush surfaces and ‘minimalist’ detailing. Each requires a unique design discipline, but, regardless of architectural language, the same methodical approach will be taken in every project to create a functionally refined and visually harmonious building.

The Earth’s resources are finite and therefore valuable. ‘Conserving’ our architectural heritage is an important part of our work, but the ethos of good stewardship is not limited to building conservation projects. We seek building solutions that are planned economically, using materials that minimise environmental damage, whilst maximising durability. We often use traditional materials that have stood the test of time over decades or even centuries. Appropriate energy-saving technologies will be discreetly integrated to minimise energy demand, providing well controlled and comfortable interior spaces.
